f. 23v., two indigenous men standing
This is a page showing two indigenous men standing. No text has been added to identify them. They appear to be hunter/warriors, given that they are dressed in hides and they have quivers and arrows. The stippling on the hides suggests fur. The men may be meant to represent Chichimec ancestors. They are shirtless and apparently both are barefooted. They both have wavy black hair to their shoulders, and they appear to have a single feather coming off the top of their heads. The one on our right has a slight beard along his jaw. The figure on our left has a somewhat more detailed chest. The chests and abdomens of both, however, have some lines that indicate musculature. Their skin tone is a pink to light brown. Shading is used to give their bodies some three dimensionality. The left arm of the man on our left is bent at a 90 degree angle, with his hand extended (but going out of sight into the binding). He may be holding and arrow in his right hand, which disappears behind the other man. The arms of the man on our left are less distinct. [SW]
