f. 13v., Tlaxoxouhcan

This scene (folio 13 verso) shows two indigenous men planting seeds in a field at a place called Tlaxoxouhcan, where there are 300 cords of land. The men are dressed in white cotton clothing intended to convey Spanish colonial dress. The clothing in outlined in black ink and the folds of the cloth show gray shading. The shirts have a v-neck and flat collars. The sleeves come below the elbows, and the pants come to about the knees. The men do not wear sandals, possibly an indication that they are meant to be commoners. They have pinkish flesh tones and brown hair. One has hair that curls above his shoulder. The one on our right has seeds falling from both of his hands; the one on our left has seeds falling from his left hand. We also see seeds along the ground, in five rows. [SW]
