f. 23v., indigenous man standing

This is an indigenous man standing. Of the two men on this page, he is the figure on the right. He is dressed in a pre-Hispanic style, wearing a hide wrap around his waist, going to his knees. The hide is painted brown and stippled with black ink, to suggest that the hide still has fur on it. The man is shirtless. His skin is a light brown or pinkish tone, and shading gives his body three dimensionality. His black hair reaches his shoulders. He may have a feather coming up off the top of his head. Between his eyes and his eyebrows, we see an extra line, possibly a fold in the skin. He has a quiver on his back. Arrows are visible coming out of the quiver. [SW]
