f. 18r., gloss (”xa miguel mimiahpan”)

This is the gloss that identifies the main town (which was the altepetl) as San Miguel Mimiahpan [sic]. The ink for this gloss is not as dark as the gloss for the smaller settlement (the tlaxilacalli), which raised the question as to whether the glosses were both put to paper at the same time. The hand is also slightly different, with the gloss for the tlaxilacalli slanting more to the right. The spelling for the name of the altepetl, “Mimiahpan,” is closer to the modern spelling, Mimiapan, than the way it is rendered through most of this manuscript, with the additional syllable: “Mimiahuapan.” [SW]
