f. 5r., text

f. 5r., text

Here the text states that this is a place called Tlatelticpac. The boundary is shown with lands used for paying tributes, and they measure 800 cords (mecatl in Nahuatl, mecates in Spanish). The two circles after the text seem to correspond to the fact that this land measures two “tzontli” (2 x 400), or 800 cords. The five “x’s” are less clear. They may have been placed there as a way of showing that this was the end of the text. The ink here is a brownish color, the same as the principal text of the manuscript, and the handwriting is the same, all of which would suggest that it was made by the same person at the same time.
