f. 17r., Nahuatl text

The text indicates that the place here is called Nopalan [place of the nopalli cacti], which is fitting given the presence of a nopalli plant in the landscape. A count of three tzontli (3 x 400, for a total of 1,200) is indicated, along with the word “tlatlatamachihuali” (something weighed). This is an unusual measurement for the Techialoyan manuscript genre. It does appear to refer to the land here, which is said to be the property of the people of the altepetl. [SW]
