f. 4r., full page of text
This text in Nahuatl opens with a reference to the palace (”tecpancali”) and how “we” (presumably the newly recognized local authorities] ordered with full rigor that all of the people’s children, the citizens of the altepetl properly establish and manifest in black [i.e. write down] this land paper, town’s paper, since the people’s children will look at where the land of the altepetl is. It refers to the rulership and how the people are to serve “our precious father” [presumably the patron saint] eternally. Again, this document is self-referenced, but here called “yxamatl” (pieces of paper), where the truth (”neltiliztli melahuac”) will appear eternally and it is to be maintained. [SW]
