Bk. V, f. 2r., indigenous man standing (colonial attire)
This is a detail, appearing in Book V, folio 2 recto, of an indigenous man standing. He is dressed in a knee-length, loose-fitting, white-cotton Spanish-colonial style pants and a long-sleeved tunic. He also wears over his tunic a cloak tied at his right shoulder. The cloak is a symbol of his high status. He is outlined in black, and his skin is washed with a flesh-tone watercolor. His hair reaches to his shoulders and appears to curl under at the bottom. This man also appears to have a pencil-thin mustache. He is gesturing with his right hand, and his left is slightly extended. The gesturing is probably an indication of his authority. The text seems to indicate that this man is named don Domingo Moteuczoma. [SW]

Detalle de un hombre indígena descalzo y vestido con túnicas de algodón blanco, mangas largas hasta las rodillas, y pantalón también de algodón blanco, acorde al típico estilo colonial. Lleva tambien una capa atada en su hombro derecho. La capa es un símbolo de status social alto. La figura está delineada en tinta negra, y pintada con acuarelas semejantes al color de su piel. Su pelo llega a los hombros y parece ser ondulado. Posee un bigote fino. Está gesticulando con sus mano derecha, mientras su mano izquierda esta levemente extendida. Los gestos sugierien cierto grado de autoridad. El texto al principio de la página identifica al hombre como don Domingo Moctezuma.
