five trees
This is a detail of five trees outlined in black and washed with a blue-green watercolor appearing in Book VII, folio 2 verso. The roots of three of them appear above ground; from the contextual view we know that the other two trees are slightly behind the hills, which may explain why their roots are not visible. These trees are tall and narrow. They have a fuller look than the tall thin trees that might be palms (in Book IV, folio 1r). The foliage consists of simple hash marks in black ink; branches are not clearly delineated. [SW]

Detalle de cinco árboles delineados en negro y coloreados con acuarelas azul-verde. Las raíces de los tres aparecen por encima de la tierra, desde el puto de vista contextual sabemos que los otros dos árboles están ligeramente detrás de las colinas.
Los árboles son altos y angostos. Tienen más follaje que las palmeras (en el Libro IV, folio 1r). El follaje consiste de marcas en tinta negra; las ramas no están claramente delineadas.
