This is a detail, appearing in Book V, folio 4 recto, of a foot in a sandal. The sandal has a sole (barely visible), a strap across the top of the foot just above the toes and another one higher than that. A “t” strap connects the two straps crossing over the foot. An additional strap appears to wrap around the ankle. This is the right foot of don Bartolomé Chimalpopocatzin. [SW]
