indigenous man fishing (colonial attire)

This is a detail of an indigenous man fishing, appearing in Book V, folio 3 recto. He is outlined in black. His clothing consists of white cotton pants and a long-sleeve tunic. A basket (possibly with fish in it) appears to his right, outlined in black and constructed in such a way that it seems to have 4-5 horizontal rows. With both hands the man holds a fishing pole whose line splits into two near the water. The man is sitting on his legs in the classic position of a Nahua woman. He has shoulder-length hair, a beard, and a mustache. [SW]
