This is a detail, appearing in Book V, folio 1 verso, of an indigenous woman’s head. This may be doña Ana Cortés. Her hair reaches her shoulders and appears to curl under. The hairstyle does not have the two bumps at the top of the head that one might expect of sedentary Nahua women of the central highlands. [SW]

Detalle de la cabeza de una mujer indígena. Puede ser doña Ana Cortés. Su pelo llega hasta los hombros y parece rizarse al final. El peinado no incluye el jopo en el centro de la cabeza, caracteristica de las mujeres Nahuas en el período precolombino.
