This is a detail, appearing in Book IV, folio 2 verso, of two indigenous men standing, dressed only in animal skin garments that stretch from their waists to their knees — skirt-like garments. The skins they are wearing are of two different types, one with spots (on the left) and one with hash marks (on the right) that may indicate a furry texture or that could be short stripes. Each man holds a bow and an arrow, and on their backs they each have a quiver with additional arrows. They both wear their hair long, well past their shoulders, and they both appear to have mustaches. The figure on our left also has a short beard. This man gestures with his left hand toward the other figure. The right arm of the man on our right is hidden, but he may also be gesturing. The clothing, hairstyle, and weaponry seem intended to convey that these men are from another era, from the days prior to sedentary living. They are probably Chichimec warriors from the North and are imagined, ancient ancestors of the people of the town of Iztacapan. [SW]

Este es un detalle de dos hombre indígenas de pie, vestidos sólo con prendas de piel animal desde la cintura a las rodillas (como faldas). Las pieles que llevan puestos son de dos tipos distintos, una con manchas (a la izquierda) y otra con tiras (a la derecha) que podría indicar una textura lanuda o peluda. Cada hombre carga una flecha y un arco en sus manos, y llevan sobre la espalda una aljaba con flechas adicionales. Ambos tienen el pelo largo, pasando sus hombros, y ambos parecen tener bigotes. La figura de la izquierda tambien parecería tener una barba. Este hombre gesticula con su mano izquierda hacia la otra figura. El brazo derecho del hombre a la derecha de la imágen está oculto, pero también podría estar gesticulando. La prendas de vestir, el peinado y las armas parecen indicar que estos hombres son de tiempos remotos, propios de una época nómade. Probablemente son guerreros Chichimec del norte y son imaginados, ancestros del pueblo de Iztacapan.
