text
This is a Nahuatl text that has yet to be deciphered. But we do see the place name Capultiopan (intending Calpulteopan?) and a reference to a palace (tecpan) and to “totecuillo dios” (our lord God, with the ll representing the y sound, a late-colonial, Spanish-influenced orthography) and “teotecuiyo dios” (with the more typical Nahua spelling). We also see the loanword “conquistadores.” [SW]
