Seated Lady (Generation II-9)

Seated Lady (Generation II-9)

According to Codex Bodley (p. 5-iii) this lady, called 1 Eagle, was the daughter of the rulers of Teozacualco. In the map her parents are indeed represented in the column to the right, which records the lineage of Teozacualco rulers, in the seventh position from below. Her father was lord 12 House, “Fire Serpent that flies through the Sky” and her mother was lady 10 Alligator “Quetzal-Spiderweb.” Her parents were brother and sister (Codex Nuttall, p. 31). Since these were in turn the children of a Teozacualco lord and a Tilantongo princess, the two lineages became thoroughly intertwined. For more detail, see the commentary on the Teozacualco column.
