Seated Lady (Generation II-1)
This lady, the first wife of lord 8 Deer, was called “Flower Serpent”. According to Codex Bodley, her calendar name was 13 Serpent. She was the daughter of the rulers of what has been called “Town of Red and White Bundle”. The Mixtec name of this bundle is not known and therefore, this important village has not been securely identified. It must have been Tilantongo's principal rival in the struggle for power in the Mixteca Alta during the 11th century. Only two years before the marriage, lord 8 Deer had conquered this place and killed most members of the royal line.
Señora Sentada (Generación II-1)
Esta señora, la primera esposa del señor 8 Venado, se llamó 'Serpiente de Flores'. Según el Códice Bodley, su nombre calendárico fue 13 Serpiente. Ella era la hija de los gobernantes de un lugar llamado 'Pueblo de Bulto Rojo y Blanco'. No se conoce el nombre mixteco de este bulto, por lo que este pueblo importante no ha sido identificado con seguridad. Debió ser el principal rival de Tilantongo en la lucha por el poder el la Mixteca Alta durante el siglo XI. Sólo dos años antes del matrimonio, 8 Venado había conquistado el lugar y matado a la mayoría de los miembros del linaje real.
