Quauhoztotonco

Quauhoztotonco

This detail, from the top of the double register numbered 6 (which also bears a number 14 near the pasted label with the number 6), shows a place called “Cuauhostotonco,” which is echoed in the three trees shown (quahuitl) and the small cave (oztotl) in the lower left corner. The images are all in shades of gray, some of it intended to give three-dimensionality. The trees consist only of trunks and branches. The text has been reinforced, with the exception of one small part, where the reinforcer probably did not understand the original author’s intention. Besides providing the name of the place, it originally stated, apparently, that this place has land measuring 200 mecatl (cords). [SW]
