This detail shows, in cursive handwriting: A. Theuet Cosmographe du Roy. This refers to André Theuet (also spelled Teuet and Thevet), the cosmographer to the king of France. His signature also appears elsewhere on the manuscript, the second time with the date 1553. He apparently acquired the manuscript in that year. [SW] [See, M.
