Canal

Canal

This is one of many canals depicted on the map. The number 43 found on the canal refers to the glossary on the back of the map, naming this as the asequia quebrada, or broken canal. Three bridges can also be seen crossing this canal (one with a person standing on it). These bridges may be the reason for its name as they differ from bridges that cross other canals. Two canoes can be seen in the canal, potentially indicating that the bridges crossing the canal were elevated enough to allow the canoes to pass under them unhindered. The number 21 also seen on this image corresponds with a building just to the left of the canal.
